Buzzkill

I’m a buzzkill, from Stick-in-the-Mudville
A man no longer interested in a cheap thrill
You’re going out. I’m staying in.
My disillusionment has come to a head
And I’ve forsaken the joy of waking
Up in arms like yours although my heart’s been aching
I’ve been dodging you for days ‘cause I’m afraid of what I’ll say
It doesn’t matter anyway
Everything I say offends you, listen, there I go again
Placing blame on you and wallowing in martyrdom
I’m run of the mill and over the hill
No I haven’t always been a buzzkill
I’m thinking about the years I spent
Out of my shell and out of my head
And now I’m making dull conversation
And I feel content but I could be mistaken
My life is plain my ways are set, it’s been that way since we first met
I’d like to let you in but I haven’t yet
So get it out of your system now, I’d like to help to show you how
But I’m too burnt out I’ve lost my will of that there is no doubt

I’ve seen objects unidentified
Flying ‘cross the sky
And although I was high
And I was spending too much time in bars
Still I trust my eyes for they rarely lie
Playing pinball with the stars
It even happens when I close my eyes
Celestial worlds collide
My head don’t feel quite right
I just watched the moon crash into Mars
And there’s a streak of light that keeps me up at night
Playing pinball with the stars

Catching Z's
03:23
|

I’ve got nowhere to go and no one to join me on my way
So I’m taking it slow with no particular destination
I’m smelling the flowers but they’re making me sneeze
I sit there watching the weeds grow taller like I’ve got some disease
It’s a matter of balance and everybody agrees
I’m not at my best without my rest so I’m catching some Z’s
I’ve got nowhere to go that should be clear based on my pace
I’ve got potential to grow but please don’t raise your expectations
I’m whiling the hours anyway that I please
There’s nothing urgent going on so I’m just shooting the breeze
It’s a matter of balance and everybody agrees
I’m not at my best without my rest so I’m catching some Z’s
Since I’ve nowhere to go , I was hoping you’d join me on my way
While I’m taking it slow and maybe you’ll be my inspiration
I’ve been smelling the flowers but they’ve been making me sneeze
I sit there watching the weeds grow tall just like I’ve got some disease
It’s a matter of balance and everybody agrees
I’m not at my best without my rest so I’m catching some Z’s
